| 1. Mobile HDD
+ Encryption + Key = GStor Desk |
 |
The GStor Desk has two distinguishing features:
Run Time Encryption (RTE)
encrypts all data while it is written on the disk and decrypts
all data while it is read from the disk.
A physical GStor Desk Security
Key controls who is allowed access to the data in the GStor Desk.
Without the key, unauthorized users will not be able to access
any data.

| 2. GStor Desk versus ordinary hard
drive |
The GStor Desk is built
on ExcelStor's highly successful Jupiter series hard disk
drive. The hard drive features Ramp Load Unload Technology
to provide excellent shock protection and unsurpassed reliability.
Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) motor provides reduced noise
while ECC and CRC protection provides improved data reliability.
Then, an encryption
and authentication chip is embedded into the hard drive
circuitry. Encryption and authentication protects your data
from theft while allowing you to enjoy data mobility. |

| 3. No key, no entry |
 |
| The GStor Desk
key is a physical electronic key that controls access to the data
in the GStor Desk. On power up, the security key is checked and if authenticated
to be correct, the user is given access to the data. If the key
authentication fails, no data is allowed to be read or written
on the GStor Desk drive. If a GStor Desk drive containing important information
was lost to a thief, the thief would have no way of getting the
data out. |

4. I lost the key |
|
| |
 |
Each GStor Desk
comes with two security keys. On first power up, the two
security key have to be initialized in the GStor Desk. The keys
are unique to that particular GStor Desk. Each key is capable
of allowing access to the GStor Desk. If one of the keys is lost,
you can still use the other key. If both keys are lost,
you'll not be able to access the GStor Desk data. For security
reasons, there is no backdoor to the GStor Desk. Please see the
Frequently Asked Questions section for more info on key
duplication. |
